Founder’s Corner – Joseph Paris
I have written many articles with respect to designing and deploying a successful Operational Excellence program and the risks and peril that exist and need to be avoided.
However, I have never shared the importance of constituting a Project Review Board and the critical role it plays in a program’s success – or the details of its purpose and function.
This article will fill that gap and hopefully your efforts will be better (and more successful) for it.
As founder of the Operational Excellence Society, Joseph Paris has contributed well over 100 articles spanning a decade and across a wide range of business topics.

I am Joseph Paris. If I were a super-hero, my super-power would be helping people become high-performing individuals as members of high-performing teams in high-performing organizations.
Organizations from around the world engage my companies and me outright to help them become more resilient and in a “state of readiness”.
In addition, I offer a variety of speaking engagements designed to deliver high-energy and high-impact in shorter duration.

These include; my signature and highly regarded workshop and masterclass, plenary and breakout sessions, keynotes, and conference facilitation roles such as panel moderator or chairperson.

My book, “State of Readiness” has been endorsed by senior leaders at some of the most respected and well-known companies in the world today. With Foreword by Andrew Lambert, FEIT; VP of Production and Supply Chain at SpaceX.

By Kevin Robinson: Teamwork alone will not deliver lean or operational excellence. Your employees need to have the skills and capabilities to deploy the tools needed along that journey. Real organizational teamwork however will ensure you get the best out of your people and tools in the fastest time, allowing you to reach levels of excellence maybe previously considered unachievable. In fact, real organizational teamwork coupled with an organizational problem solving capability will allow you to be innovative, developing your own tools and systems where copy paste practice may not be the best solution.
So what is real organizational teamwork?

They say that “up to 70% of Operational Excellence and Continuous improvement programs fail.”
Don’t be one of them. Be the exception, not the rule.
“Fail to plan, plan to fail.” To help you, your program, and your company to be successful, XONITEK has created a Program Architecting Whitepaper where you will find the best practices for the planning stage of an OpEx/CI program.
If you follow our prescriptive approach, the roll-out of your program will almost be anti-climactic.
Even if you already have a program, you can use it as a benchmark to see how your efforts compare.

Get the Help You Need…
Sometimes we get caught because of an unplanned separation of an employee who was performing a key role in the company or project. Sometimes we have a short-term need for an experienced specialist to help push through a deliverable.
But time is the enemy. This is not a situation where you can take the time to recruit. The need is now, and help is available.

Traditionally in the Service Industry, Quality Assurance (QA) focused on ensuring the quality of (manufacturing and delivering) a service or product. Main focus was on preventing mistakes and defects, with techniques like Statistical Process Control (SPC), Total Quality Management (TQM) and Company Quality.
In the last years, the Service Industry, such as Banking and Insurance, has been undergoing a Digital Transformation (DX), with data and analysis muscling out embedded quality improvement. In a true DX, QA is present in virtually every aspect of every employee’s everyday work. As a result, there is a shift from bolt-on to built-in in the field of QA.
So what is the impact of this DX on the QA field of expertise? What is this shift towards ‘built-in’ in the field of QA? What does this mean for these three lines of defense?
