Battle joined: A battle between the world’s biggest defense companies
The Economist reports about a battle between three of the world’s biggest defense companies – the outcome of which could reshape the aircraft industry altogether. Soon, the a big defense contract will be awarded by the US Air Force, to build 80-100 new long-range strike bombers at a cost of $550m each. The stakes could not be higher for the three industrial heavyweights that are slugging it out, for it is predicted that the loser will have a very hard time staying in the combat-aircraft business.
