Technology and Geography: A Sense of Place

While technology may be advancing globalization at a rapid pace, it doesn’t mean that geography is becoming irrelevant. Take Lyft, for example. This ride-sharing service pairs up private individuals who rent out seats in their vehicles for donations from those in need of a lift. The entire process, however, is all orchestrated via an app. This opportunity would cease to be were the digital and physical worlds not as closely linked as what they currently are. In fact, geography is a fundamental part a number of current digital services. And this is not the only way geography continues to impact the digital area. Ambitious tech-lovers continue to gravitate toward Silicon Valley and other popular tech hubs in the pursuit of experience, knowledge, and opportunity…
