The lonely locomotive
According to Economist, a weaker world economy does not hurt, and may actually help, America. This perspective is based on the fact that there is a spring in America’s step these days. A revision released this week raised annualised economic growth in the third quarter to 3.9%; it has averaged more than 4% in the past two quarters. Based on positive data such as this, The Economist means that the U.S has become the lonely locomotive – sustaining a strong economy in the midst of a weaker global economy.
