European Entrepreneurs; Les misérables

Turns out, Europe’s failure to encourage ambitious entrepreneurs is growing ever more as an additional growth crisis to the already pressing general economic euro crisis. The Economist means that in a country with a culture that’s deeply inhospitable to entrepreneurs, wanting to grow a start-up into a behemoth is quite as counter-cultural as piercings and performance art. As for the St Oberholz café in eastern Berlin, it has become a centre for the city’s young start-up scene, which has enterprising types flocking to the city from all over the world. An enticing place indeed for miserable European Entrepreneurs – as they will get little to no encouragement elsewhere.
